A widely respected thoroughbred owner and pedigree expert, Ryan Zabrowski has built a passion around buying young, undervalued horses and partnering with the best horsemen in the world to develop them into quality performers. His graded stakes horses include He’s So Fine, Kalu, Bramble Berry, Venencia, and Breeder's Cup horses Rock Me Baby and Mission of Joy.
Working with The Jockey Club, Ryan designed a big data pedigree analytics model powered by a proprietary family quality algorithm. Built for his personal use, it compiles and ranks every dam line represented in modern thoroughbred sales.
The son of a lifelong handicapper, Ryan discovered his passion for racing during his service in the U.S. Marine Corps while stationed near Del Mar, where the elegance and challenge of the sport left a lasting impression. His passion deepened after a series of successes in partnership with his brother, Dan, in the sales ring: buying Bramble Berry for $25,000 and selling her for $150,000, a Nyquist filly for $150,000 that later brought $400,000, and Mission of Joy, purchased for $32,000 and sold for $500,000. Those experiences lit the spark for Pinhook Partners.
With over two decades of experience as a portfolio manager, Ryan applies the same principles of analysis, discipline, and risk awareness to the business of pinhooking. His dual background in finance and thoroughbred development defines the philosophy that guides Pinhook Partners today.
